Five Year Report on Illinois Broadband Released

Springfield, IL: Partnership for a Connected Illinois (PCI) has released a report outlining its five-year success and Illinois’ path forward in broadband. PCI’s accomplishments are a result of a $6.5 million investment of American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) broadband stimulus funding.

The five-year report shows that 99.75% of Illinois households have access to high-speed Internet and nearly 70% of residents have adopted broadband.

“This report offers a detailed look at how Illinois got it right,” offers executive director, Phil Halstead. “The $6.5 million in federal funding, plus contribution directly from the state accomplished much, but there is still work to do to connect every Illinoisan.”

“Broadband Everywhere for Jobs and Prosperity” details 16 outcomes resulting from ARRA investment, including:

  • Adoption and Use
  • Research and Reports
  • GIS Data and Mapping
  • Broadband Partnerships and Programs
