FCC Announces Extended Filing Deadline for Rural Broadband Experiments and Other Information for Applicants

This morning, the FCC released a Public Notice and corresponding documents outlining revised dates and helpful information for Rural Broadband Experiment applicants.

The FCC announced an extended deadline and corresponding filing window for Rural Broadband Experiments applications. The October 14 deadline will be postponed in order to give the FCC adequate time to test the electronic submission system thoroughly. The testing is expected to be completed in 4 to 6 weeks and a new Public Notice will be released in the future announcing this new deadline for submissions.

Secondly, the FCC released a revised informational webinar date (originally scheduled for September 29) rescheduled for Thursday, October 9 at 2 pm EDT. To register for this webinar, interested parties should e-mail RBEwebinar@fcc.gov. The webinar will provide information on completing Form 5610.

Finally, the FCC made available a great deal of materials to aid applicants including 1.) A screen shot of Form 5610, 2.) Templates for the Bid Form and Descriptive Data Form, 3.) A Sample Project Information Submission, 4.) A guide to working with the Rural Broadband Experiment census block list, and 5.) A guide to completing the bid form.
