Free Computer Training - Lake Land College Adult Education Center

Lake Land College’s Adult Education Center will offer three free computer classes, beginning after the first of the year. Each class will introduce students to basic computer skills such as keyboarding and the Microsoft Office 2010 suite which includes Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Publisher. 

Class times are as follows: the first class will meet Mondays and Fridays from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. January 9 through March 2; the second class will meet Wednesdays from 3:45-6:45 p.m. January 9 through May 5; and the third class will meet Wednesdays from 6:45-9:45 p.m. January 9 through May 5.

Classes will be held at the Community Technology Center located in the Adult Education Center at 1617 Lake Land Blvd., Mattoon.

All classes are free and open to the public. Each class is limited to the first 10 students. To register or inquire about classes, please call the Adult Education Center at 217-235-0361.

The Adult Education Center also offers free access to computers at its Community Technology Center.

Open hours of the computer lab are as follows: Mon. - Fri. 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. A computer lab assistant will be available to help with questions during the following times: Mondays, 4-7 p.m.; Tuesdays 3-5 p.m.; Wednesdays 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and Thursdays 3 -5 p.m.

The computer lab assistant is Illinois WorkNet trained and can assist with job searches and resume writing. The lab and its services are open to adults age 17 and older.
