Webinar to Provide Information on Gigabit Community Challenge Competition

SPRINGFIELD, February 17, 2012 – Eager to learn more about Governor Quinn’s recently announced Gigabit Communities Challenge? An upcoming webinar will communicate guidelines, distribute information, and collect questions about the application process.
The Gigabit Communities Challenge Kick-Off Webinar will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22 and last for approximately one hour. The Partnership for a Connected Illinois, in conjunction with partnering organizations, will host the online event.
Gov. Quinn announced the Gigabit Communities Challenge in his Feb. 1 State of the State address. The challenge will provide up to $4 million in capital funding to public or private organizations that develop the most promising ultra high-speed Internet deployment projects.
Topics to be addressed include: eligible costs for infrastructure and application, eligible applicants, and challenge guidelines. A question and answer period will follow.
