These IL Schools Made a List of the 50 Most Innovative Computer Science Programs

From price, to average graduate salary, to the quality of the faculty, there are a lot of factors to consider when deciding on what college to attend. One that's often overlooked--and difficult to define--is the amount of innovation coming out of the program.

Computer Science Degree Hub took a shot at quantifying America's most innovative computer science programs and recently ranked its top 50 departments, with four Illinois colleges cracking the list.

The department of computer science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign ranked the highest in the state at No. 12, followed by the University of Chicago at No. 21, UIC at No. 26, and Northwestern at No. 40.

Factors that went into Computer Science Degree Hub's rankings include state-of-the-art technology, advanced research facilities, faculty awards, alumni achievements, contributions to the wider field, and other criteria.
