September 2011 Update
Current Highlights:
- Signed construction contracts, held groundbreaking ceremony, and started fiber construction in September.
- Urbana, using John Burns Construction, began installing conduit, manholes, and handholds in the Fiber-to-the-Premise (FTTP) area just north of University Ave.
- Installed 2.65 miles of conduit, passing 5 CAIs, 2 Businesses, and 140 households.
- Procurement of ADTRAN as the electronics vendor was approved by the State Purchasing Officer.
- Held two public open houses in September to demonstrate the ADTRAN equipment to the community.

November 2011 Update
Current Highlights:
- Have buried 26.7 miles of conduit, passing 1,079 households.

- Fiber contractors have completed roughly 140,000 feet of conduit installation, which is approximately 17% of the total project. Collectively they are on track to have a total of more than 200,000 feet of conduit installed by January 1st.
- UC2B is finalizing procurement process for the installation of fiber from the curb into homes, businesses and Community Anchor Institutions (CAI).
- In the final stages of placing our main equipment order for the Fiber to the Premises equipment, and expect to do that before the end of the year.

December 2011 Update
Current Highlights:
- The major activity for December was the construction on and near the University of Illinois campus. Due to the unseasonably warm weather and the absence of students over the semester break, nearly 9 miles of conduit was installed.
- The first fiber shipment will arrive in January and the project is on track to have customers in April or May.
- The core network design has been finalized and the equipment, as well as the Fiber to the Premises equipment, will be ordered in January.
